Trama
Stereo (1969): is shot on stark black and white film stock and set in the not-too-distant future and it focuses on an experiment from the 'Canadian Academy for Erotic Enquiry' which ends up involving body modification, telepathy and of course drugs.
Crimes of the future (1970): is shot on colour film stock, and is again set in the future this time detailing a disease which is killing young girls, stemming from tainted cosmetics. Of course this eventually descends into perverted sex and body modification too, it's Cronenberg of course. Both films are over an hour long and are wonderful to give a look into where the director was coming from, it's great to see that he's had these ideas so early on which were later refined in films such as 'Videodrome' and 'Dead Ringers'. A gorgeous looking re-release housed in rough card and supplied with extensive notes, this is a must-buy for any self respecting film fan, and if you're a Cronenberg follower I'll just assume you've already pressed the 'buy' button!
